Marilyn Manson -
Would probably have to be my favorite band as of now, believe it or not.
Don't like it? That's okay, just don't send me any sugar coated hate
mail and/or hate mail for it, please. I can't wait for Mechanical
Animals to come out!
Best songs: Suicide Snowman, Negative 3, Misery Machine, Dope
Hat, Get Your Gunn, Wrapped In Plastic, Lunchbox, Man That You Fear, Cryptorchid,
Kinderfeld, Minute Of Decay.
Nine Inch Nails - When's
the new album coming out, Trent?! We've been waiting for four years
now! ;-)
Best songs: Something I Can Never Have, A Warm Place, Gave
Up, Mr. Self Destruct, Ruiner, Hurt.
Switchblade
Symphony - Some say they're gothic, some don't. Well, I'll
just venture so far as to say that they are. Anyway, they have beautiful
music to match frontwoman Tina Root's fantastic voice.
Best songs: Clown, Dollhouse, Mine Eyes, Rampid, Soliders,
Roller Coaster, Bad Trash, Sweet, Sleep, Sheep.
Radiohead -
Need I really say more? Completely brilliant band.
Best songs: You, Lurgee, Airbag, Street Spirit [Fade Out],
Black Star, Sulk, Just, Lucky.
Tori Amos - I saw her in concert
last July, and it was one of the best concerts I've been to so far. Despite
what many critics have to say, try out some of her work sometime.
It really speaks for itself.
Best songs: Winter, Little Earthquakes, Silent All These Years,
Precious Things, Pretty Good Year, Space Dog, Yes Anastasia, Marianne,
Doughnut Song, Playboy Mommy, Pandora's Aquarium.
Rasputina - The Ladies
Cello Society! I discovered them about a year ago when I found out
through the Internet that Marilyn Manson himself had remixed one of their
songs called "Translyvanian Concubine", so I decided to check them out
and was very impressed. Very interesting lyrics and haunting, sometimes
even a little bit (dare I say it?!) gothic melodies. Pick up Transylvanian
Regurgitations sometime and give 'em a whirl.
Best songs: My Little Shirtwaist Fire, Transylvanian Concubine,
Howard Hughes, Trust All-Stars, Rusty The Skatemaker, TrenchMouth, The
Olde HeadBoard, Rose K., The New Zero, Leechwife, Watch TV.
Ben Folds Five - Ahhhh....who
wouldn't love these nice young men with their unique, addictive sound?
A piano-based trio with very personal, thought-provoking lyrics that touch
the heart and really speak to you....and sometimes even have you rolling
on the floor laughing. I hear there's even a BF5 cover band from
Japan going by the name of Tom
Collins Nine. Interesting. ;-)
Best songs: Mitchell Lane, Emaline, Boxing, Philosophy, Bad
Idea, For Those Of Ya'll That Wear Fanny Packs, Best Imitation Of Myself,
The
Last Polka, One Angry Dwarf & 200 Solemn Faces, Evaporated, Steven's
Last Night In Town.
